Small but well appointed and recently refurbished, the East London Airport serves as the incoming and outgoing hub with regular flights to and from all major centres in South Africa. East London is a mere one-and-a half hour flight to and from Cape Town; Durban and Johannesburg international airports. While there is a rail service to major centres, we recommend visitors use either flight; car or bus travel. Seaview Place Guest House offer a shuttle service for our guests. The East London Airport is serviced by Kulula airline and South African Airways.
All major car hire companies are represented at the East London airport . The road system to and from East London consists of the N10 leading into the interior and the N2 leading into East London from Cape Town in the West toward Umtata and KZN (Durban) toward the East. All major roads in the region are tarred and in reasonably good condition, particularly the routes (N2) to major centres. The Eastern edge of the SUNSHINE COAST and the Western or Southerly edge of the Wild Coast, East London is ideally situated for visitors to travel the entire region using East London as a base. Within the city surrounds one can visit two popular private game reserves; the newly renovated and extremely interesting East London Aquarium; the Museum, home of the coelacanth exhibit and the Anne Bryant Art Gallery. East London can boast some of the finest beaches in the country with many more within a half-hour drive of the city, Gonubie and Nahoon Beaches being highly recommended. The Nahoon Reef is a world famous surfing spot, the East London Golf Course, home to numerous SA Open tournaments; the Africa Open, part of the European Tour and the SA Amateur, is consistently rated within the top twenty courses in South Africa.
Regional attractions are vast but include the Addo national Park, approximately two and a half hours drive away from East London, Addo has grown into one of South Africa’s finest game parks and is highly recommended. One can undertake numerous day trips from Beacon Bay in East London in both an Easterly and Westerly direction, within an hour and a half drive are numerous beach resorts; golf courses; restuarants and private game parks, Mpongo, Kap River and Inkinkwezi amongst others.
East London is often the chosen venue for national sporting events, the Iron Man takes place in January each year as do the many hockey, water polo and golf events amongst others, with the centre for these events usually in Bunkers Hill, Riverbend Guest House being able to accommodate visitors a mere ten minutes drive away. The famouse Nahoon Reef, a local surfing spot with a consistent right to left break, the home of many national and international surfing and wave-ski contests. Other popular events include the Africa Open Golf Championship and East Londons’s well known Surgers Maraathos.
East London is proud to be known as a regional shopping hub. Three large suburban malls namely, the Hemmingway Centre; Vincent Park Centre and Retail Park in Beacon Bay form the core with support from many smaller shopping centres and the central business district.

Bisho, the home of the Eastern Cape legislature is a short drive away from the city and East London is the preferred town of residence for many of our political representatives and their families.
